TEXTBOOK BUYBACK

At the end of the Fall and Spring terms, the University Bookstore conducts a textbook buyback program to replenish inventory of books adopted for the upcoming semester. The program’s purpose is to provide affordable textbooks for students.  The Bookstore will pay up to 50% of the original selling price of the book.  The following conditions apply:

  • The textbook is a current edition.
  • The textbook is listed as a required text for the following semester.
  • The textbook has been subjected to normal use.
  • The inventory quantity for the textbook has not been reached.

The University Bookstore reserves the right to make exceptions to the said conditions.

Students are reminded that textbooks are subject to change either through publisher revisions or faculty adopting new textbooks.  In such cases, the Bookstore will not honor requests to buy textbooks.

GO Textbooks Marketplace, LLC. (GT) administers the buyback program for the MVSU Bookstore.  GT is given the first opportunity to purchase year-round buyback inventory and surplus store stock. The vendor will employ a buyback representative and provide funds to be used for the service, as requested by the Bookstore. The Bookstore will determine buyback dates and hours in consultation with GT. GT will provide supplemental POS hardware and software as necessary to facilitate buyback during peak times.

GO Textbooks Marketplace, LLC.  pays the Bookstore a commission based on the volume of wholesale purchases and the expenses incurred by GT. The rate of commission is 20% (subject to change) less expenses.  However, in no case will the commission be less than 15% (subject to change) of the total of wholesale purchases.
