Official Withdrawals

A student's official withdrawal date is the date the student begins the University's withdrawal process or notifies the Office of Student Records/University Registrar of his or her intent to withdraw. A student may give oral or written notification of the intent to withdraw. The student is required to complete a "Withdrawal of University Enrollment Form" and obtain all required signatures for approval/clearance. The form may be procured from the Office of Student Records/University Registrar. The completed form is to be returned to the Office of Student Records/University Registrar within 10 business days from the date the student first gives notification of the withdrawal. Also, the student has the right to cancel the withdrawal by completing the "Cancellation of Withdrawal" section of the form and returning the form to the Office of Student Records/University Registrar within the 10 business day period. The student is officially withdrawn from the University within 10 business days even if the form is not returned to the Office of Student Records/University Registrar by the designated time frame. If a student begins the University's withdrawal process and provides official notification orally or in writing of his or her intent to withdraw, the official withdrawal date must be used for purposes of fee payments and refund calculation.

If a student decides not to attend classes prior to the first day of classes, the student is required to complete the "Withdrawal of Registration" form. You may secure this form from the Office of Student Records/University Registrar or the student may download the form by clicking here. Upon receipt of this form, the student's registration will be cancelled prior to the first day of classes. These courses will not appear on the student's academic records, nor in the attempted course credit hours.

Unofficial University Withdrawals

Sometimes students cease their enrollment without notifying the University. This is considered an unofficial withdrawal. A student may not begin the University withdrawal process or may not notify the University of his or her intent to withdraw due to illness, accident or other circumstances beyond the student's control. However, the official withdrawal date is the date the University declares from its consideration of the circumstance. Also, a student who does not notify the University either orally or in writing of his or her intent to cease academic attendance, the last date of class attendance will be considered the student's withdrawal date.

Each withdrawal that is received in the Office of Student Records/University Registrar prior to the first day of class will be processed as a dropped registration.

A student who withdraws from the University must secure a Withdrawal Form from the Office of Student Records/University Registrar or download the form from - Registrar Forms, obtain necessary signatures of clearance, and file the form in the Office of Student Records/University Registrar. A student who withdraws from the University after the last day to drop from courses will receive a grade of WP.

Official Course Withdrawals

Students must follow the class schedule as outline on their registration form that is filed electronically in the Office of Student Records/University Registrar or on their on-line registration schedule. A student is permitted to withdraw from a course during the period that is designated on the "Academic Calendar." To initiate the withdrawal of course process, the student must procure a "Class Schedule Adjustment Form" from his/her departmental office and subsequently submit the properly approved form to the Office of Student Records/University Registrar.
