The Goals of the Business Department
In view of the business environment from this perspective, the Department of Business Administration has four principal goals which help to prepare students to thrive in an ever-changing world. The four principal goals are:
- To prepare students for ethically and socially responsible roles in business and society.
- To assist students with developing their logical and critical thinking skills, as well as their analytical reasoning abilities.
- To assist students in achieving their personal and career goals.
- To prepare students for entry-level positions in either private or public sector and prepare students for course work at the graduate level.
The Student Learning Outcomes for Accounting Majors
Upon completion of a B.S. degree in Accounting from the Department of Business Administration, students will be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate sufficient proficiency in understanding the application of accounting principles and methods;
- Demonstrate intermediate-level knowledge of financial reporting, auditing, cost accounting, accounting information systems, and taxation; and,
- Communicate their accounting capabilities effectively as evidenced by their written and oral presentation.
The Student Learning Outcomes for Business Administration Majors
Upon completion of a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the Department of Business Administration, students will be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate sufficient proficiency in functional areas of business;
- Competently use computer application software that is commonly used in business, specifically word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools; and,
- Communicate effectively as evidenced by their own written and oral presentation.
