Welcome to the Department of Business Administration at Mississippi Valley State University!
The Department of Business Administration has a rich pool of human and physical resources, facilities, and computer laboratories to provide a stimulating business training environment. The key to those resources is the knowledgeable and dedicated faculty members who are committed to providing quality instruction to students.
Since 2007, the Department of Business Administration has been housed in the newly constructed Business Education Building, which includes six 50-student classrooms, one 75-student classroom, three computer labs with a capacity of 40 students in two of them, and 18 students in the other, a 150-tiered presentation room, a reading room with seven computers, a student lounge, a workroom, and faculty and administrative offices.
The goal of the Department of Business Administration is to provide a high-quality learning experience in business education. The programs of the Department are designed to provide students with the technical skills and ethical values required for business careers.
The Department of Business Administration offers undergraduate and graduate programs: a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. For the BS degree, students may major in two areas: Accounting and Business Administration. For full-time working adult learners, we offer the Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an Organizational Management concentration.
Each student, with the assistance of an assigned advisor, is responsible for selecting coursework that will satisfy the requirements for the degree program chosen. In pursuing the MBA degree, students can choose concentrations in the areas of Management and Finance.
Mississippi Valley State University’s Department of Business Administration is internationally accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
In the coming years, we hope to increase the number of faculty and fields of strength and enhance our academic programs and collaboration with other units at MVSU. Both on the graduate and undergraduate levels, our goal is to increase the range of concentration offerings. We are developing programs to help our students compete for leading internships and private-sector jobs.
It is an exciting time for MVSU and the Department of Business Administration. We look forward to your matriculation with us!
Sincerely,
A. A. Farhad Chowdhury, Ph.D.
