A Mississippi Valley State University education prepares students to compete in a rapidly changing global community. We provide students with the skills to think critically, analytically and independently. Tuition covers less than half of the cost of education. The remaining must come from state funds, endowment income and gifts to the University – including gifts from you. Our students are unique in a number of ways, mainly because 95% are eligible for Pell Grants and 98% receive some type of financial assistance. With the decline of both federal and state funds, there is a tremendous need for private financial support – specifically from our alumni. Financial aid resources have simply not kept pace with the financial needs of our student applicants and their families.
Today, higher education presents more opportunities for learning, innovation, and experience than ever before. In an age of declining public support and rising costs, private philanthropy is essential for sustaining the quality of a Mississippi Valley State University education and for making its benefits available to all.
