- Campus Transformation: Over $12 million invested in campus improvements, including new chemistry and biology labs, a fitness center, and the Claude G. Perkins Living and Learning Center, the first residential facility built at VUU in 45 years.

Before his tenure at VUU, Dr. Perkins broke barriers as the first African American Superintendent of Schools in Clark County, Nevada, one of the nation's largest school districts. He also served as Superintendent in Kansas City, Missouri, and held key administrative roles in Richmond, Virginia, and Albany State University.
His enduring impact includes naming the Dr. Claude Grandford Perkins Elementary School in Clark County and the Claude G. Perkins Auditorium at MVSU.
