Welcome to the Department of Education!
Whether you’re a college freshman, an elementary or secondary major, a licensed teacher seeking an advanced degree in teaching, or someone seeking a career in health, physical education, and recreation, the Education Department has a program that will meet your needs.
At the bachelor’s degree level, the Education Department offers programs in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, and Health, Physical Education, and Recreation.
At the master’s degree level, the Education Department offers a Master of Arts in Teaching and a Master of Science in Sports Administration for the individual who holds a bachelor’s degree. The Master of Arts Program is designed by the State of Mississippi to address teacher shortages in the state and allows college graduates to obtain employment as a teacher in the public schools while matriculating in the MAT Program. The Master of Science in Sport Administration prepares individuals for leadership in the field of sport administration and management. It is the overall aim of the Sport Administration Program to provide scholars and practitioners quality educational training that will enhance career opportunities in the sporting arena.
We hope you will explore this Web site to find out more about our programs – or better yet, stop by and visit our Student Advisement Center in the Olympia P. Lowe Education Complex and find out more what we have to offer.
It is our belief in the Education Department that there is no calling or career that could possibly be more rewarding than to be a Teacher a “Holistic Transformer” of young minds and spirits or a Sports Practitioner an “Athletic Leader” in a specialized sports related industry. Whether you are beginning your career or advancing your knowledge, our programs are designed to help you meet your personal and professional goals, ultimately allowing you to transform lives and inspire others.
