Mississippi Valley State University is ecstatic to announce our upcoming Welcome Back Valley Scholars: Local Employers Job Fair, an exciting opportunity for all students to connect with potential employers and explore a variety of career options. The event will take place on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the University’s Pavilion.
During the event, students will network, advance their career options, and connect with a wide range of employers. There will be representatives from various corporations including the Leflore County Circuit Clerk Office, the FBI Jackson Division, Planters Bank, and more. Job openings, internships, and career paths will be a part of the discussion.
Essie Bryant, Director of the Career Services Center at MVSU, emphasizes the significance of the job fair in fostering valuable connections between students and local employers.
"This event offers our students a unique opportunity to explore different career paths in a relaxed outdoor setting at the pavilion. By inviting local employers to campus, our goal is to build meaningful connections that can lead to valuable career opportunities for our students. This event not only enables our students to network and establish relationships with industry professionals, but also provides local employers with the opportunity to meet and engage with the talented students here at Mississippi Valley State University who can meet their workforce needs," said Bryant.
In anticipation of this valuable event, Bryant advises students on how to be well-prepared.
To prepare, students should dress professionally, bring copies of your resume, and research the companies that will be in attendance.
This job fair plans to be an invaluable experience for students across all disciplines, offering a unique chance to network with a diverse array of companies and organizations. Whether you are a freshman exploring career possibilities or a senior ready to launch your professional journey, this event is designed to cater to your career aspirations.
Be sure to arrive early enough to receive a complimentary waffle on a stick provided by Waffle House and beverages provided by Pepsi Co. as Justin Stevenson, MVSU Admissions Counselor, set the atmosphere with his music playlist.
