Mississippi Valley State University's (MVSU) President, Dr. Jerryl Briggs, Sr., is excited to announce that MVSU has received the university's largest single private gift in school history.

Mississippi Valley State University is pleased to announce plans to hold its Fall 2021 Commencement Exercises at 8 a.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2021.
The event will mark the second in-person Fall Commencement since Fall 2019. The in-person ceremony for undergraduate and graduate students will take place at Rice-Totten Stadium at Chuck Prophet Field.
Fall enrollment at Mississippi Public Universities remains steady when compared to Fall 2020 figures. Fall enrollment for 2021 is 76,510 for the system, compared to 77,154 students enrolled in Fall 2020, representing a .8 percent decrease.
Mississippi Valley State University showed a slight increase from Fall 2020, and President Jerryl Briggs said the university is trending in the right direction.

In October, eight Mississippi Valley State University students earned the opportunity to attend the Thurgood Marshall College Fund's 21st Leadership Institute.

Mississippi Valley State University's "Smoke-free and Vape-free Campus" event was recently held at the Bennie G. Thompson Plaza.
Students, faculty, and staff were celebrated for helping to maintain a
smoke-free and vape-free campus. Attendees were offered accessible "Smoke-free and Vape-free Campus" shirts, lunch and enjoyed the music during the in-person event.
The Career Services Center at Mississippi Valley State University will welcome over 40 organizations for the Fall 2021 Career Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021, in the R.W. Harrison Complex.
As MVSU moves forward with making things as normal as possible on campus for students, the Career Services Center will host an in-person career fair while offering a virtual career fair and graduate school expo.
Mississippi Valley State University is excited to announce its newest partnership with Washtenaw Community College (WCC) located in Ann Arbor, Mich. Announced ahead of National Transfer Student Week (Oct. 18-22), the news marks the first comprehensive agreement – with benefits such as guaranteed admission and access to in-state tuition – between a Michigan two-year school and a Historically Black College & University (HBCU).

On Thursday, September 30, 2021, Mississippi Valley State University officials welcomed local civic leaders, faculty, staff, students, and community members to a ribbon-cutting and grand opening of the Chick-fil-A at MVSU.
The excitement surrounding the addition of such a well-respected brand has had the Valley and local community members buzzing since its announcement.
