The Women in Higher Education—Mississippi Network (WHEMN) held its 2022 conference from February 17-18, 2022, in Oxford, MS, and Mississippi Valley State University's Dr. Sharon Freeman received the 2022 WHEMN Leadership award. Dr. Freeman serves as the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Research and Effectiveness.

The WHEMN Conference is a time for women to come together and support the network's mission, which is to identify, develop, advance, and support women in higher education in Mississippi.

The Mississippi Valley State University family received a direct, passionate, and timely challenge on Thursday, during the school’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Black History Convocation.  

Mississippi Valley State University was well represented Thursday, February 17, 2022, when the Mississippi Board of Trustees of the State Institutions of Higher Learning celebrated Black History Month and held its annual Diversity and Inclusion Awards ceremony.

The board recognized campus and community leaders for advancing diversity and encouraging understanding and respect.

Mississippi Valley State University alum Robert L. Sanders has spent most of his life in public service.

The MVSU Basketball Hall of Famer has served over 28 years in law enforcement and 12 years in the city government. Still, now the Shaw native and Cleveland resident is looking to impact the state level as the new District 29 House of Representative member.

Itta Bena, Miss.- Two Mississippi Valley State University scholars earned an opportunity to participate in the Delta Scholar Program in Public Health (DIPH) hosted by Mississippi State in collaboration with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

The Delta Scholars Program is a two-part academic and community engagement program for talented and socially conscious college students interested in moving the Mississippi and the Delta region towards a brighter tomorrow.

Mississippi Valley State University President Dr. Jerryl Briggs, Sr., is proud to announce his appointment of Auguster Keys Wallace as the new University Chief of Staff.

Wallace is from Greenwood, MS., and has a wealth of experience at MVSU. She previously served as the executive assistant to the president.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to work with Mrs. Wallace as she moves into this new role. I am confident in her ability to serve the University as she has for over 20-years in various capacities," said Dr. Briggs.
