Mississippi Valley State University will mark a significant milestone in its storied history as it hosts the 75th Annual Founder’s Convocation on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the Walter Roberts Auditorium inside the H.G. Carpenter Building.
Held under the theme “A Celebration of Service: A Legacy Unveiled,” the event is a centerpiece of MVSU’s yearlong 75th anniversary celebration and will honor the university’s enduring commitment to academic excellence, service, and community uplift.

ITTA BENA, Miss. — Mississippi Valley State University will host the 27th annual Constance G. Bland Women in Science and Technology (WIST) Conference on Friday, April 4, 2025.
Earl Tucker, a proud graduate of Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU), earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1967, followed by a Bachelor of Science degree in 1968. Despite receiving full-ride graduate scholarship offers from elite institutions, including Ivy League universities, he chose to remain at MVSU to complete a second undergraduate degree. This decision laid the foundation for a distinguished career in labor leadership.
