Switzer Takes Over as MVSU VP for Facilities Management and Capital Projects

Mississippi Valley State University President Dr. Jerryl Briggs Sr. is excited to announce the addition of Michael Switzer as the Vice President for Facilities Management and Capital Projects.

Switzer brings a wealth of experience to the position, having a work history specializing in facilities management, construction management, and energy savings initiatives.

MVSU Education Department Recently Hosts Educators Rising Conference

The Mississippi Valley State University Education Department recently hosted the Fall 2023 Educators Rising Conference. The Educators Rising Program is a national initiative to recruit and train teachers. Over 200 students, along with school sponsors from 17 schools from Mississippi, participated in the Conference. For many, it was their first time on the MVSU campus.

MVSU Experiencing Network Issues

Mississippi Valley State University is experiencing a network outage with its campus telephone service and internet. The university experienced a power surge on Tuesday that damaged critical network components. Crews are currently working to repair the issues. The MVSU Information Technology Office and other strategic solution partners are working to assist in getting the university network up and running.

MVSU experiences "Bounce Back" Year with Enrollment Increase

Following a year with record enrollment decline across the country, the question on the minds of many higher education professionals was, will college enrollment rebound for the 2023-2024 academic year?

For Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU), that question was a resounding "YES" as the university experienced a 16.9-percent increase in its fall enrollment numbers, reporting 2,196 students compared to the 1,879 students enrolled in the Fall of 2022.

MVSU Set to hold the 9th Annual B.B. King Day Symposium

Each year, Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) takes a musical trip that connects the past to the present during its B.B. King Day Symposium at MVSU in honor of the legendary blues musician.

On Thursday, September 7, 2023, the symposium will celebrate its ninth year and highlight the "Origins of the Blues" in the R.W. Harrison Sports Complex. The B.B. King Recording Studio, The B.B. King Museum, and Delta Interpretive Center sponsor the symposium.
