Calhoun brings wealth of experience to new position as Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs

Mississippi Valley State University announced Dr. Thomas J. Calhoun, Jr. as the new Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs.

Calhoun comes to MVSU after most recently being the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Strategic Matriculant Services at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Fla.  

MVSU alum joins Association of Public and Land Grant Universities Council

Mississippi Valley State University alumna Maxine R. Greenleaf has earned an appointment to the Strategic Communications Executive Committee for the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities (APLU). It’s the oldest higher education association in the country and aims to strengthen and advance public universities' work in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

MVSU launches new, centralized Tutorial Services program

ITTA BENA, Miss.—The Division of Academic Affairs has launched a new, centralized tutoring program to support students academically during their matriculation at Mississippi Valley State University.

The University’s Writing Center, the Early Monitoring Alert Program and several other previously distinct tutoring units across departments and disciplines have been consolidated under the new MVSU Tutorial Services program.

ITTA BENA, Miss.—From two performances in the Indy 500 (1963 & 1964) and being the first Historically Black College & University (HBCU) extended an invitation to the Rose Bowl Parade in 1965 and again in 1968, to performances during the 1968 Mississippi Governor’s inaugural parade and the 1969 inaugural parade for the United States President—Mississippi Valley State University’s band has had quite the storied history.
