Mississippi Valley State University's Office of Admissions has been working diligently to prepare prospective students for a virtual high school day.
MVSU's annual high school day will premiere at 2 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021, on MVSUs official Facebook page and YouTube channel. The event will be hosted by Comedian and MVSU Alum, Famous Amos.
Dr. Danisha Williams, Director of Admissions and Recruitment, said, "We have planned an exciting program with information and performances that will grasp the attention of prospective students along with their parents."
The virtual event will feature Student Government Association President Jhah Cook, Mister and Miss MVSU, Larozzo Shugart and Chyna Sawyers, Student Alumni Association President Ronni Williams, MVSU Cheerleaders, the Mean Green Marching Machine, the MVSU Valley singers, student-athletes, and other MVSU scholars.
Williams pointed out that the office of admissions' overall goal is to increase student enrollment. "We are trying to find students who will benefit from Valley and display school pride at all times." Dr. Williams added.
Donell Maxie, Communications and Marketing Director for MVSU, said the project came together nicely. He believes prospective students will be informed and encouraged to consider MVSU as their school of choice.
"This virtual event does not compare to the traditional high school day that we are accustomed to seeing, but all of the Valley students who are involved in this project have done all they could to ensure they provide prospective students with a great look into life at the Valley," Maxie said.
The high school day committee met weekly for two months to make sure this event was a success. MVSU Alum, Joseph Jackson ('13), owner of J. Royce Productions, produced the virtual video.
