  • Susie Bunch
    • Program director of Teaching and Learning at Mississippi Center for Education Innovation (MSCEI), has over 30 years of expertise in education. Prior to this position, she served as an assistant commissioner at the Tennessee Department of Education. She not only organized this group, partially sponsored for this presentation, she also serves as an external evaluator to our institute.

Goals: to assist teachers in identifying instructional strategies for improving reading comprehension, vocabulary, summarization, and reading/writing in the content areas of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies; to provide examples and practice activities which will increase student engagement with the curriculum, their peers, and their teacher and ultimately, will improve student motivation and achievement and teacher satisfaction

"Teaching So The Learning Will Stick: Content Area Literacy as a Motivator for Student Achievement". 

Hands-on, across the curriculum activities and information for 5th-8th grade teachers focusing on Vocabulary, Comprehension, Summarizing, and Writing.

    • Created Evolution Technology Center, a division of Brickfire Project to serve as one stop shop for small business grant writing, loan assistance and business plan development services. Establish technical training partnerships and services in the fields of MOUS certification, fiber optic installation, design and troubling shooting and A+ certification in cooperation with Mississippi State University and East Mississippi Community College. Established community based basic and advanced community training as an extension of East Mississippi Community College. Implemented basic and advanced computer training programs for the Oktibbeha County Justice Courts, Oktibbeha County Sheriff Department and inmates of the Oktibbeha County Sheriff Department. Implemented the 1st & 2nd Computerized Learning Centers in the State of Mississippi in HUD operated multifamily housing projects. Responsible for the creation of (5) computerized learning centers in Child Fund International (CFI) sponsored sites throughout the State of Mississippi.
