In mid year 2008, the Building Services department was reorganized into a Zone Maintenance structure. Prior to this change, MVSU's maintenance approach, like many other universities, was rooted in a 1960's model of stand-alone craft shops with specialized master craftspeople. In an era of tight fiscal restraints, the development of Zone Maintenance has become a systematic approach which assigned a team of mulch-disciplined craftspeople to specific buildings and areas of campus to better use critical resources. Each zone has a Supervisor and a team of personnel who are highly technically trained, more customer-focused, quicker to respond, and more effective in providing maintenance services for our campus customers. Building Services is comprised of the following crafts that make up the Zone Maintenance team: Technical Services [HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing], Carpentry trades and locksmith services.
