STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi Valley State University’s Communications and Marketing Office took center stage at the 2025 College Public Relations Association of Mississippi (CPRAM) Conference, earning 19 awards across 10 categories for outstanding work in higher education marketing and communications.
Held May 19-21 at The Mill at Mississippi State University, the annual conference spotlights outstanding public relations, marketing, and communications work across Mississippi’s colleges and universities. MVSU’s showing included two first-place awards, four second-place wins, and a host of third-place honors spanning visual design, video production, photography, and integrated campaigns.
“These awards are a testament to the creative synergy within our team and our shared commitment to telling the Valley story with excellence,” said Donell Maxie, MVSU’s Director of Communications and Marketing. “We are intentional about our messaging, strategic in our planning, and passionate about representing MVSU with integrity and vision.”

The MVSU Communications and Marketing team is housed within the Division of University Advancement and consists of Maxie; John McCall II, senior graphic designer; LaTunya Evans, communications specialist; Justice Williams, associate graphic designer; and Karrington Stockstill, project coordinator and social media manager.
Maxie also highlighted the professional enrichment provided by the conference.
“Beyond the awards, CPRAM is an invaluable platform for learning,” he said. “We return each year not only with awards, but with new strategies, fresh ideas, and renewed inspiration to amplify the Valley brand.”
Maxie was re-elected to the CPRAM Board as a four-year college and university representative. He has served in this leadership role for the past three years, helping guide strategic planning, programming, and professional development efforts for higher education communicators across the state.
