MVSU celebrates 2019 Founder’s & International Week

ITTA BENA, Miss.—Mississippi Valley State University is celebrating the establishment of the institution while paying tribute to its founding President and First Lady James Herbert and Augusta C. White during its 2019 Founder’s Week.

This year’s celebration, held April 8-12, coincides with the University’s International Week, an annual celebration designed to highlight the international diversity of the campus and educate the community on those cultures.

MVSU mourns loss of long-time band director Leonard “Chief” Tramiel

ITTA BENA, Miss.—The Mississippi Valley State University community is saddened by the passing of alumnus and long-time former band director Leonard “Chief” Tramiel of Greenwood.

Tramiel passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019. He was 75.

“Mr. Leonard Tramiel is indeed a Valley legend,” said MVSU President Dr. Jerryl Briggs. “He will truly be remembered, loved, and revered by our MVSU family. Many of our alums have shared with me the positive impact that he has had on their careers and lives. We are saddened by his passing, but his lore remains with us. “

MVSU’s J.H. White Library to celebrate National Library Week celebration

                                                     

ITTA BENA, Miss.— Mississippi Valley State University’s James H. White Library is joining libraries of all types across the state in celebrating the many ways libraries help build strong communities by providing critical resources, programs and expertise. 

Court of Appeals to visit Mississippi Valley State University April 9

ITTA BENA, Miss.—The Mississippi Court of Appeals will convene on the campus of Mississippi Valley State University on April 9 at 1 p.m. to hear oral arguments.

The proceedings will be held in the auditorium in the W. A. Butts Social Science Building. The address of the university is 14000 Highway 82 West, Itta Bena, Mississippi.

The Court of Appeals schedules proceedings on college campuses a few times each year in its Court on the Road program. It will be the court’s fourth visit to MVSU in recent years.
