Briggs Named One of the Ten Most Dominant HBCU Leaders of 2021
The HBCU Campaign Fund (HCF) has released the annual Ten Most Dominant HBCU Leaders Award recipients & fourth class of 2021. Mississippi Valley State University President, Dr. Jerryl Briggs Sr. was selected as one of the honorees.
The Ten Most Dominant HBCU leaders Award & Class is a national recognition ranking created by the HBCU Campaign Fund, a non-profit that advocates for historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs).
Gates, who is from Greenville, Mississippi, was acknowledged for her notable achievement in advancing science gateways. The award included a certificate plus an honorarium and website highlight.
Maxie has over fifteen years of experience as a Staff Writer, photographer, and Editor with The Bolivar Commercial Newspaper in Cleveland, Mississippi. For the past three years, the Duncan, Mississippi native, has served as the Communications Specialist with MVSU.
Mississippi Valley State University student Jhah Cook, a senior Biology and Chemistry major, took advantage of her opportunity to participate in a virtual internship.
Kayla Johnson, an Itta Bena native, first learned that she was a prestigious David L. Boren Scholar and named an alternate for the Boren Scholarship. Later, Johnson was awarded the U.S. Department of State's Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship.
Calhoun comes to MVSU after most recently being the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Strategic Matriculant Services at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Fla.
