Mississippi Public Universities Set Record Enrollment for Second Consecutive Year

Record numbers of students have enrolled in Mississippi Public Universities this year, demonstrating they understand that degrees equate to better jobs. The university system enrollment of 83,016 reflects the largest fall enrollment experienced by the system, surpassing last year’s record fall enrollment of 81,024.

“There is no doubt that earning a degree is a solid investment in the future,” said Dr. Glenn F. Boyce, Commissioner of Higher Education. “Record enrollment clearly shows that our students understand the importance of investing in higher education.”

Waters Named 2016 White House HBCU All-Star

Vester Waters has been selected as a 2016 All-Star for the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

The All-Stars were selected from over 300 students from 24 states, the District of Columbia, Ghana, Nigeria, and the Virgin Islands.

According to Waters, he is honored to have been chosen, but the selection came as a surprise.

“I applied, but I did not expect to be selected,” said Waters.  “I was contacted on the last day that nominees were to be announced.”
