New Valley Women’s basketball player has jersey displayed in WBHOF

Mississippi Valley State University Women's basketball player Jaylia Reed recently received fantastic news. Reed attended and played at Southern Arkansas University Tech last season and was notified that her jersey will be displayed at the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame displays different jerseys in its Ring of Honor to acknowledge standout players from all levels of girls' high school and women's collegiate basketball from the previous season.

MVSU Women's Basketball to Host Elite Basketball Camp

ITTA BENA, Miss. - Mississippi Valley State Women's Basketball will host its Elite Camp inside the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex on Saturday, July 29. The Elite Camp will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Camp cost is set at $60 per participant.

MVSU Alum & VISIT JACKSON’S RICKEY THIGPEN TO SERVE ON EXECUTIVE BOARD OF MISSISSIPPI TOURISM ASSOCIATION AS PRESIDENT -ELECT

The Mississippi Tourism Association (MTA), the state’s voice of tourism for over 30 years, is pleased to announce its elected board of officers for 2023-2024. Visit Jackson’s President & CEO, Rickey Thigpen, Ph.D., has been selected to serve as the state association’s president-elect starting July 1.

MVSU Communications & Marketing team win nine CPRAM awards

ITTA BENA, Miss.—Mississippi Valley State University's Office of Communications and Marketing team members won nine awards during the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi's (CPRAM's) Awards Ceremony held during the group's annual conference.

Additionally, Maxie has been chosen to serve on the 2023-24 CPRAM Board as a four-year college representative. 

George tells MVSU Grads, “Live Your Story”

Mississippi Valley State University held its 71st Commencement Ceremony Saturday morning in the R.W. Harrison Complex, and 230 undergraduate and 45 graduate students crossed the stage to receive their degrees.

MVSU alum Dr. Trina N. George, State Director-Rural Development with the Mississippi United States Department of Agriculture, was the keynote speaker and told graduates to "live their story."

Mississippi Valley State University scholars Uchechi Nworah and Aaradhana Saxena won the state-wide 2023 StudyMississippi International Student of the Year award in the Undergraduate and Graduate categories, respectively.
