The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for our region with forecasts of light snow Monday night and spreading southeastward during the daytime Tuesday.
Two to three inches of snow is possible across the Delta, which may result in roads becoming snow covered and hazardous for driving. Accumulations on bridges and other elevated roadways may result in slick spots.
While University administration is taking this advisory under consideration, it is still too early to predict if our area will be affected. At this time, MVSU will be observing normal business and class hours on Tuesday, January 16. Please check the weather and travel conditions along your route and in Itta Bena before traveling and make the proper adjustments, if necessary.
The University’s Emergency Response Team is in contact with local Emergency Management Administrators (EMA) and the National Weather Service and will be closely monitoring the weather event and situation. If there are any changes to the University schedule, notifications will be posted at www.mvsu.edu. Students, faculty and staff will also be notified by university e-mail, text messaging, Facebook (@valley.state), and Twitter (@MVSUDevils).
You can also check road and weather conditions at www.weather.gov.meg before traveling to and from this area.
