PERSONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

  • Symptoms Monitoring
Employees must participate in a COVID-19 symptom and temperature check before beginning each work day. Employees are strongly encouraged not to come to campus while ill or have COVID-19 symptoms (a fever of 100.4 F or greater along with cough or shortness of breath).  Entry to campus will be regulated and staffed with someone who will screen employees for compliance with CDC regulations and take the temperatures of employees.  Employees who are cleared will be given a sticker that must be worn for the duration of the day.  If an employee is ineligible to report to work due to the results of the symptom and temperature check, the Office of Human Resources and the employee’s supervisor will be notified.

During symptoms check and screening, your temperature will be checked with a no-touch thermometer and the following questions will be asked:

  • Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days or placed in quarantine?
  • Have you had a fever in the past 48 hours?
  • Have you had a recent loss of taste or smell?
  • Have you had vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours?
  • Have you experienced a (new) cough • Shortness of breath, Muscle aches or chills
  • Have you or anyone you have been in close contact with has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or placed on quarantine
  • Have you been asked to self-isolate or quarantine by a medical professional or local public health official

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Hand Hygiene
The CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain, such as grocery stores, pharmacies, and gas stations.  Cloth face coverings may slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others. Cloth face coverings can be made from household items. Face mask must be worn by all employees when in the presence of others or a public setting where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.  The University will provide reusable masks at no cost for its employees. Appropriate use of face masks or coverings is critical in minimizing risks to others near you and is not a substitute for social distancing. Cloth face coverings must be worn for only one day at a time, and must be properly laundered before use again.
