HEP Admissions and Eligibility

  1. HEP Eligibility Factors Is/Does the possible participant:
    1. 16 years old or beyond the state’s compulsory age?
    2. not enrolled in school?
    3. not have a high school diploma or equivalent?
    4. have qualifying WORK? Or have an immediate family member with qualifying WORK?
    5. need, as determined by the grantee, the academic and supporting services and financial assistance provided by the project to gain employment or be placed in an IHE or other post-secondary education or training?
  2. What family members are eligible to participate in HEP and CAMP?
    1. An individual who, or whose immediate family member or household member, has spent a minimum of 75 days during the past 24 months as a migrant or seasonal farm worker is eligible to participate in a HEP or CAMP project.
  3. What is a seasonal farm worker?
    1. The term “seasonal farm worker” means a person whose primary employment was in farm work on a temporary or seasonal basis (that is, not a constant year-round activity) for a period of at least 75 days within the past 24 months.
  4. What is a migrant farm worker?
    1. A migrant farm worker is a seasonal farm worker, as defined above, whose employment required travel that precluded the farm worker from returning to his or her domicile (permanent place of residence) within the same day.
  5. Definition of farm work
    1. Farm work means any agricultural activity, performed for either wages or personal subsistence, on a farm, ranch, or similar establishment.
