Program requirements are as follows:
- A minimum of 33 semester hours of course work is required in the Master of Arts in Teaching Program. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00.
- A special license can be obtained through the State Office of Teacher Licensure in order to secure employment in a school district. The license, valid for three years, is issued upon completing the two pre-teaching courses and upon receipt of test scores, transcript, application, and institutional recommendation.
- Upon completion of the first 12 hours of coursework, a five year standard teaching license (class A) will be issued by the State Office of Teacher Licensure, MDE. It is the student’s responsibility to pursue this.
- A Graduate Comprehensive Examination is required of all degree candidates.
