Interuniversity Center Augusta Taurinorum (ICAT)
The Interuniversity Center Augusta Taurinorum (Torino, Italy), an Italian non-profit organization, is represented by Dr. Denis Kelleher Muhilly, Ed.D., President, and Dr. Roberto C. Caprioglio, JD, Rector; Dr. Lester C. Newman, Ph.D., President of Mississippi Valley State University, and the Honorable Charles Steele, Jr., President and CEO of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
The concept of the interuniversity center is to promote educational programs, serve as a liaison for universities to find avenues of mutual cooperation, to promote research and scholarly activities and offer university classes under traditional and/or technologically advanced delivery systems.
On June 19, 2006, an Agreement of Cooperation and Representation was signed with Mississippi Valley State University. Included in this triangular agreement was the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. The purpose of the agreement was to promote, organize and offer American educational programs to the European and Asian communities. MVSU was selected as the "cornerstone institution" of the Interuniversity Center.
Under the auspices of Dr. Caprioglio and Dr. Muhilly, ICAT will work on behalf of MVSU in the attaining of European equivalence to the United States "fully accredited" status. ICAT will represent MVSU, among others, in the European and Asian communities for the purpose of
- Recruitment of students
- Coordinating the offering of classes
- Delivering of courses
- Formation of a local team of adjunct faculty; and
- all other university activities.
